I am a pediatrician in Columbus Ohio who will be traveling to Big Sky MT to ski with my family including my 4 children. Last year my 8 year old son developed AMS while staying at Copper Mountain. He developed tachycardia, vomiting and fatigue with oxygen levels in the high 70s to low 80s requiring oxygen overnight. Your podcast on the Colorado Children’s site was a godsend at the time and I am so thankful for it. My son’s pediatrician was unfamiliar with Diamox use. Would you recommend prophylaxis with Diamox for elevations less then 8000 ft given his previous symptoms? I believe Big Sky is closer to 7200 base elevation. Thank you again for your informative work on AMS.
